Rice

  • 4 cups Vegetable broth Enhances flavor; can use low-sodium or water.

Butter

  • 1 stick Unsalted butter Allows control over saltiness.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder Can substitute with fresh minced garlic.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder Can substitute with finely chopped onions.

Seasonings

Preparation

  • Melt the butter in a medium-sized pot over medium heat, watching closely to prevent browning.

Cooking

  • Add the rice to the melted butter, stirring to coat each grain. Pour in the vegetable broth, then add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
  • After cooking, remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
